one of the things i love about the change you want to see gallery is the enormous bookshelf beka has amassed over the years. from art theory to obscure political philosophy, i find myself absorbed by book jackets debating which i should tackle next. after hearing beka pimp out Steve Duncombe's book Dream: Re-imagining Progressive Politics in an Age of Fantasy i decided to take it home and have fallen in love with it... filled with so many lessons, i can't stop highlighting every other word (yeah, it's that good.)
then, i was spending a few hours research a design shop named "mother" and happen to stumble on a nice blog post on obama's marketing campaign. as a political junky, i just love his "O." if you get a chance, check out these two articles (1, 2)and read how his brand works.

well it's been a month since my trip officially ended and now i find myself back in nyc facing a similar dilemma before i left. money or how NYC will suck you dry in a matter of seconds / days / weeks.
but that's not the point of this message / post / whatever... now that i'm back, i'm glad to have this little space on the net to call my own, rant my raves and be more meta than on my other blogs... honestly, with the luck of seven, i felt i was living in a project bubble. wether or not that was a product of my own manifestation will be left to the highly paid doctors of the future.
so, now that i'm back, i'm going to use noneck.org as away to communicate my inner most thoughts in my own mother tung (bad english), promote events / photos unrelated to my other projecsts and talk about the disparate barnacle projects.
as for projects, i now have four. none of these provide a single ounce of income. well, one of them i hope will provide some income... the others i hope will build income.
on the luck of seven - yeah, that trip i took. well, i'm looking to turn it into a much bigger project - first, is the children's book, but the ideas for the children's book are wrapped into two ideas. the first is a documentary film explaining the journey and the second is the realization that no longer am i dealing with just a set of topics but an interlocking set of ideas that provide a strategic framework for community development and good corporations. at heart, i know this is a massive undertaking that needs continuous funding and development.
alive on earth - if you've heard of alive in baghdad then you know a portion of the story. as i was traveling around the world, Brian Conelly and i started discussing the creation of a not-for-profit to benifit alive in baghdad. too boot, i've been kicking around the problem of how to include what i've learn from "the luck of seven" AND David Cohn and i had long discussed an entity that does crazy community journalism / citizen video project. after reviewing the community journalism field / tools & technology advocacy / community video projects - we've decided to congeal a multitude of ideas into a kick ass not-for-profit advocacy / consultancy shop.
williamsburg coworking / not an alternative - if you recall, i'm a huge fan of finding like minded folk and working with them. my friends at not an alternative are rapidly evolving into a much larger organization that needs help. as williamsburg coworking was a side project beka and i started, her greenpeace job will soon move her away to a downtown manhattan address. in the meantime, we're talking about finding someone to hold down the fort and redoing their web presence in drupal 6.
finally, as if these three projects weren't large enough...
taxiNYC.tv - i've decided to get my new york city hack license and document the road trip. this will allow me to drive a new york city cab and process all of these thoughts that are in my head. while i've read many of the cabbie blogs, i know this is can be dangerous and poor paying position. on the other-hand, it's one of the most unique jobs in the world.
too boot, i've found myself in a particular predicament. as i journeyed, i congealed my best thoughts while in motion. weather it was a cab, a train, a plane, a bus - the opportunity to sit silently and was priceless. looking out of countless windows and watching the world pass before my eyes, i wrote countless stories of a wondrous world within my own head. now i'm addicted to those wacky stories that i lived. now that i'm in nYc, i need that same thrill.
so yeah! here's to being an adventurer!
i'm traveling around the world
